3 Frequently Asked Questions About Traveling With Your Dress!!!
Show of hands: who LOVES the idea of traveling for your wedding??? We are always SO stoked to hear about all your wedding planning dreams and one of our favorite things to hear about is where you’re planning on traveling to say your I Do’s!! We totally get that you want your dress to look perfect once you’ve arrived at your destination, so today we’re here to address some common questions about traveling with your dress and accessories!!
QUESTION #1 - Is it safe to put my dress in a suitcase?
The answer is YES, but please take it carry-on! It is 100% safe to put your dress in a suitcase as long as your dress is safely tucked in its protective bridal bag. You can fold the dress inside the bag to make the dress smaller and more portable. The larger your gown, the more careful you’ll need to be. But it can be 100% safe and easy to transport your gown across the country (and to destinations outside the country as well!) as long as that suitcase remains in your sight, so don’t worry at all about transporting your dress!!
QUESTION #2 - Will my dress get wrinkled from traveling?
Your dress will get wrinkled whenever you travel with it, since as soon as any fabric folds even slightly, it begins to wrinkle. But no worries, since you can steam your dress and get all the wrinkles out when you are at your venue!! We suggest hanging your dress up so the entire dress, including its train, is hanging completely down. This is typically best done in a getting-ready bridal suite, or anywhere near your venue so the dress will be 100% ready to put on for your big day and won’t get wrinkled being transported to the venue after steaming.
QUESTION #3 - What if I have accessories I need as well?
Traveling with accessories is just as easy as traveling with your dress! Your veil comes in a protective bag and can be folded and placed in the same bag or suitcase as your wedding dress. All accessories should be placed in their own bags so nothing snags or catches on anything else. If you have a veil, cape, or anything similar, you will need to steam these items at your venue along with your dress to get rid of any wrinkles from traveling before the big day!
